The Ministry of Health announced that On April 7th began the vaccination of adults over 80 years old and people over 50 with pre-existing diseases against COVID-19.
This sector of the population is part of the second phase of vaccination, as explained by the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí.
Residents in centers for the elderly are vaccinated within the same facilities to reduce the risk of infection, according to the information. Alabí said there are 58 registered senior centers but did not say how many people live there.
After those over 80 years of age, the time, day and place of vaccination will be scheduled for those over 70, 60 and 50 years respectively, according to the schedule of the authorities.
According to the government, more than 160,000 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The first phase included front-line medical personnel and support personnel in the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic. Among them, elements of the National Civil Police and the Armed Forces.
A report from the presidency of El Salvador indicates that the Chinese government donated 150,000 doses of the CoronaVac vaccine to this country.
