The Ministry of Education (Esteban Moctezuma Barragán) informed that the school term started the past Monday August 24^th in a remotely way due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of the current situation, the classes will be broadcasted on television for preschool, elementary, middle school and high school. The “Learn at Home II” program will be implemented for the 2020-2021 school year.¹

In Mexico, face-to-face classes will only happen when the epidemic’s traffic light is in green, following the protocol of the corresponding measures. Meanwhile, distance classes «are not entertainment broadcasts and the classes will have curricular value,» confirmed Esteban Moctezuma.

The Head of Government (Claudia Sheinbaum) informed that the week of August 31^st to September 4^th, Mexico City will continue with orange color of the traffic light and that no more economic activities will be reopened. In addition, the alert is maintained since in the recent days there was an increase in hospital occupancy.²

Sheinbaum reported that despite the slow economic reactivation in Mexico City, there have been no outbreaks of infections, because the citizens have maintained the sanitary measures, as well as the effective results with the program of attention to priority neighborhoods.

The Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, pointed out that he will also be in charge of the scheme of vaccines against coronavirus (COVID-19) and that the application of these will depend on their effectiveness.³

López-Gatell recalled that Mexico is prepared economically (with up to $25 billion pesos), and with other international agreements to access the vaccine when it is confirmed that can be applied in the Mexican citizens.

On the other hand, the states that are in yellow color of the epidemiological traffic light are: Sonora, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, Campeche, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco. There is just one state in red with maximum risk of contagions which is Colima and the rest of the 21 states in Mexico are in orange traffic light.⁴
