The Colombian government announced new COVID-19 measures, these measures come after the government consulted with the experts from the Ministry of Health and their assessment of the epidemic curve across various regions in the country.
The current stay at home order is extended until May 31st, 2020. The state of emergency continues for 3 months until August 31st, 2020. From June 1 to June 30, a new phase of reopening with social distancing will begin. The approach will be gradual and specific to the needs and conditions of each region.
Kindergartens, schools, and universities will continue providing lessons virtually through July. In August, schools may start offering remote learning on some days and in-person lessons on other days.
The current restriction on national and international flights continues as well as domestic land transportation. However, the government is working on a strategy to reopen the travel sector in the next phase.
Adults over the age of 70 and children under the age of 5 must continue to self-isolate at home until June 30, but between June 1st and June 30th they will be allowed to leave their homes for short periods of time with limitations and restrictions.
