Queretaro has positioned itself as one of the most important geographical areas in the country to develop as an opportunity for growth and investment focus for different sectors and national and foreign investors.
According to the Commercial Director of the International Computer Room Experts Association, ICREA, the state is in optimal conditions to establish data centers.
As of today there are at least 5 projects with plans that together add up to 300 million dollars of investment.
Undoubtedly, the proximity of this state to the country’s capital, as well as the mix of geographic and climatological factors, make it the ideal scenario for the optimal operation of data center equipment and connectivity infrastructure.
In the area, there are aspects such as highly trained human capital in the construction and equipping of this type of projects. According to the growing trend in connectivity and technological development that was generated after the pandemic is reflected in the high demand of users for data center certification services, this requires undergoing important auditing processes for construction, operation and maintenance of technological environments.
It is considered that in the short term, Queretaro will be an opportunity for those investors in data centers, however this in turn represents a challenge to ensure the necessary energy supply for its implementation. For this reason, the state government is in communication with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in order to identify the most viable energy supply systems in the state.
It is important to highlight the growth of the state’s tertiary activities, which reached an annual increase of 6.6% after a 2.3% drop in the first quarter and a 17.2% increase in the second quarter. According to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity, in the January-June period they were the second fastest growing activities.
Local commerce has expectations that the recovery of the sector will continue at the end of the year; however, in the face of a possible risk of an increase in COVID-19 infections, the president of Canaco stated that he is confident that the impact will be minor and that the state’s growth will remain constant.
