Mexico is increasingly adapting to the ‘New normal’, with less entities in a high epidemic risk. The active positives estimated by COVID-19 are in a slight downward trend, but there are still a big number of infected people in the most affected states. That is why government recommendations do not change regarding care to avoid outbreaks, which have been announced and carried out since the beginning of the pandemic in the country.
Proper hand washing, disinfection of commonly used areas and utensils, as well as staying at home if possible, are the recommendations to avoid a greater number of infections.
According to the most recent report from the Secretary of Health, as of October 4th, Campeche is the first state in the country that has changed to the green epidemiological traffic light last week because it has only 3% occupancy of beds with coronavirus patients. Chiapas follows closely, with just 4% occupancy, while Tlaxcala and Yucatán, with 11% each, are the entities that complete the list of the lowest rates.
Also, the states that turn to yellow light are; Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Guanajuato, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, And the other 16 states will remain in orange color.
Eduardo Clark, director of ADIP, reported that next week Mexico City will continue with an orange traffic light, due to a slight increase in hospitalizations during the last days.
The capital government indicated that the parks and outdoor fairs will be able to reopen activities beginning October 5th, complying with the prevention measures and without the sale of food or beverages.
«All people must wear face masks, promote electronic ticketing and in the case of very large parks, 30 percent occupancy should not be exceeded,» said Jesús Merino in a press video conference.
