One of the main objectives at the national level is to work on making our country an attractive destination to encourage investment, business development and growth, and as a consequence, productivity. Seen from an international perspective characterized by the impacting economic slowdown, Mexico is looking for growth as a symbol of a prosperous vision for the near future. Likewise, it maintains the support and security of its domestic and foreign investors, since it enjoys attributes that make it an attractive and important destination to promote the growth of their investment.

It is essential to keep in mind that Mexico is ranked 48th out of 141 economies, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Competitiveness Report 2019. This ranking places our country’s economy as one of the most competitive in Latin America, below Chile in 33rd place. Additionally, Mexico has revealed solid improvement proposals to develop positively in the following years.

According to the World Economic Forum, Mexico’s development has been thanks to the sum of factors such as: growth of the domestic market, the environment of domestic and foreign competition in the goods market, the increase of flexibility and incentives in the labor market and the impulse to financial services.

Two years ago, Mexico ranked 60th out of 190 in the world ranking that evaluates the ease of doing business in the Doing Business 2020 report, conducted by the World Bank Group. This indicator is a benchmark for the country, as it places it as the most competitive country for doing business in Latin America, as well as one of the most competitive among developing economies.

Particularly, it stands out in aspects related to procedures to start a new business, management of construction permits, investor protection, tax payment, access to credit and ease in foreign trade activities. Likewise, the report highlights the relevance of the implementation of specific reforms that allow speeding up the processes for the development of business in the country.
