The Head of Government (Claudia Sheinbaum), informed that Mexico City continues in “orange light” of COVID-19 and the reopening of shopping malls will be postponed until July 08th. 1
For the cities that are in orange light, government informed which establishments can operate: hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, parks, plazas and open public spaces at 50% of their capacity.
Beauty salons and barbershops at 50% of their capacity (appointment needed).
Markets and supermarkets can operate at 75% of their capacity, only one person per family can enter at the same time.
Gyms, swimming pools, sports centers, and spas at 50% of their capacity, it is necessary to make an appointment. 2
Sheinbaum also indicated that if the capital remains in orange, it is mandatory that all positive cases of COVID-19 are reported to the official number. The City will continue receiving calls by authorized people, to locate the contacts with whom they were close, to request them to stay home and to take the proper test to be treated promptly.
These actions are part of the Detection and Protection of COVID-19 Program that was implemented in Mexico City 2 weeks ago.
The main goal of the program is to save lives and includes the following actions:
- identify cases that may become serious through SMS system, Locatel and field search 2. increase of tests in the 117 health centers and reduce the times to get the results
- cut the chain of infections by isolating positive cases and their contacts
- detect and isolate asymptomatic people through the information they provide.
“This program of Detection and Protection of COVID-19 cases will apply from the red light until the change of light. Even when different economic activities are opened, we can have a lower level of contagion in the city, and we can be balancing between the return in this New Normal with a more detailed attention of the people who may have COVID-19 and their contacts”, she expressed.3
