On March 11th, the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí, accompanied by members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), received the first batch of 33,600 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine supplied by the COVAX mechanism.
Alabí explained that the vaccines of the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca will be applied to health personnel who do not directly care for patients affected by the new coronavirus.
“The arrival of these 33,600 doses allows us to continue carrying out the process to protect the Salvadoran population; it has already started with the personnel who are in direct contact with COVID-19 patients, now we go with all the personnel who work in hospitals,” explained the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabi.
