Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, reversed the second phase of the reopening of economic activities scheduled for July 21st , after evaluating recommendations from experts and health authorities related to the coronavirus epidemic.7
The President reiterated on Saturday, July 18th, his intention to reopen this week the export and manufacturing industry, and the reactivation of public transportation, suspended since the beginning of May of this year. But during the night of July 19th, Bukele changed his mind. “Although what our country needs is a STRICT QUARANTINE and not just complementary measures, I have decided to suspend Phase 2 of the economic reopening,” Bukele posted on his Twitter account, without giving more details.8
