Gustavo Petro has elected Luis Gilberto Murillo as ambassador to the United States of America

The elected president Gustavo Petro informed that Luis Gilberto Murillo who was minister of environment in Ivan Duque’s government will be the new ambassador of Colombia to the United States.
Luis Gilberto Murillo was born in San Juan, a small town near the municipality of Andagoya. He was minister of environment from 2016 to 2018, also he was governor of Chocó from 1998-1999 and 2000).
He is an engineer who graduated from the State University of Moscow and has been an international political analyst.
Petro has already assigned eight of the nineteen positions that will be occupied in his office. Women are on the top of his list and are expected that all other positions are assigned this week.
As the new ambassador, he will have to manage sensitive information of bilateral relations such as the critical position of the new Bogotá administration for the extradition and the struggle against drugs.
