Mapping Mexico’s Industrial Growth: A Comprehensive Pipeline for Investment

The Mexican federal government, led by Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Economy, has unveiled an ambitious investment portfolio for 2025. This initiative focuses on monitoring and landing both national and foreign investments across all states. During his first visit to Nuevo León, Ebrard highlighted the creation of a robust pipeline to track the development of over 80 new industrial parks nationwide, including 11 in Nuevo León, as announced at the Bloomberg NEF Forum.

Investment Portfolio 2025: A New Era for Industrial Growth

Ebrard emphasized the need for comprehensive tracking of public and private investments, noting their critical role in job creation and economic diversification. “We are building a 2025 investment portfolio to track national and foreign investments, ensuring accountability and fostering employment across Mexico,” Ebrard stated.

Strategic Mapping: 10 Investment Corridors

To streamline efforts, the Ministry of Economy has divided the country’s industrial parks into 10 strategic corridors, targeting regional strengths and needs. The corridors include:

• Baja Corridor: Baja California, Baja California Sur
• Frontera Corridor: Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas
• Bajío Corridor: Querétaro, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí
• Noroeste Corridor: Durango, Sinaloa, Sonora, Zacatecas
• Pacífico Corridor: Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit, Michoacán
• Centro-Pacífico Corridor: Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Ciudad de México
• Centro-Golfo Corridor: Veracruz, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Ciudad de México
• AIFA Corridor: Ciudad de México, Estado de México, Hidalgo
• CIIT Corridor: Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas
• Maya Corridor: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo

Each corridor’s development plan outlines the number of parks, required permits, and key resources such as energy and water to ensure timely execution.

Frontera Corridor: A Focus on Nuevo León

Nuevo León leads the Frontera Corridor with 11 new industrial parks, followed by Coahuila with four, Chihuahua with three, and Tamaulipas with two. These parks will serve as hubs for diverse investments, driving regional economic growth.

Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration

To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Economy aims to establish state councils comprising representatives from both public and private sectors. “For the first time, decision-making will be equitable, with the private sector actively contributing,” Ebrard noted.

A key area of focus is energy investment, where private entities can participate up to 46%, with the remaining 54% under federal control. This collaboration is expected to address Mexico’s growing energy demand effectively.
