Bogotá, Valle del Cauca and Bolívar are the most competitive departments in tourism

The Cafam University Foundation and Cotelco presented the results of the index that evaluated the entire sector during the last year.
In an event that took place yesterday in Casa de Nariño, the Regional Tourism Competitiveness Index of Colombia corresponding to 2021was presented, which is annually developed by the Hotel and Tourism Association of Colombia and the University Foundation Cafam.
The index revealed that Bogotá, Valle del Cauca, and Bolívar were the three cities best evaluated, obtaining the highest scores in criteria that evaluate social, environmental, cultural, business issues, destination promotion strategies, administration, and infrastructure, between other aspects.
The President, Iván Duque, highlighted that tourism didn´t give up last year and invited the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana, to implement a new day of the ‘I am going’ program the next day without taxes (IVA) that will take place on March 11th.
The 2021 measurement was carried out in 32 cities and the capital, in addition to evaluating 25 capitals and 174 municipalities with a tourist vocation.
