Mexico City is one of the most expensive to live in from all Latin America. In 2022, it ranked fourth, only behind Santiago de Chile, Montevideo in Uruguay and Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to a study conducted by Universidad Torcuato di Tella.
But this first quarter of 2022, the metropolis has been unseated because the prices of Monterrey for rent and rental sales were higher. Data from the real estate portal Inmuebles24, place the city of Monterrey as the one with the highest prices, in second place to Mexico City, in third to Guadalajara, in fourth to the Riviera Maya, in fifth to Querétaro and in sixth to Mérida.
The price of the city came despite the fact that demand fell during the same period. According to Tinsa México, 5,615 new housing units were sold in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area, which represents 3.1% compared to the previous quarter and 1.5% compared to 2021.
At the same time, the housing inventory grew 11.6% compared to 1Q21, with 41,933 units.
Another of the outstanding cities, according to real estate24, is Querétaro since despite being sued for being close to the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, the costs are still below other relevant metropolises.
